Privacy Policy

Overview

Strange Metrics provides website analytics, tracked links, QR attribution, campaign measurement, related reporting tools, and supporting promotional-entry infrastructure. This policy describes the categories of information the service processes and the purposes for which they are used.

Account information

When someone creates a Strange Metrics account, the service processes account information such as email address, authentication data, account creation time, confirmation state, and sign-in activity needed to operate and secure the account.

Analytics information

When Strange Metrics is installed on a website or a Strange Metrics tracked link is used, the service may process pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers, page URLs and paths, referrers, campaign parameters, event names, link or button interactions, download, phone and email interactions, conversion events, browser and device information, language, screen and viewport information, and network geography such as country, region, city, and approximate network-derived latitude and longitude. Ecommerce events can include order totals, currency, non-personal transaction identifiers, and product details when a website operator sends those fields.

When a project connects multiple allowed website domains, its tracking script can link visits when someone follows a link between those domains. A short-lived encrypted token may be added to that link to carry pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers, then removed from the address bar after arrival. The token does not contain a person's name or contact information.

Precise location and IP addresses

Website owners can optionally enable precise device location for a Strange Metrics project. When enabled, the visitor's browser may request permission to share device location. If the visitor grants permission, Strange Metrics may process latitude, longitude, the device-reported accuracy radius, the associated pseudonymous session identifier, capture time, and page URL for location analytics.

Precise location is not available silently: the browser or operating system controls the permission request. If permission is denied, unavailable, or precise location is disabled, Strange Metrics continues using approximate network geography, including network-derived coordinates, as a fallback. Network-derived coordinates may be inaccurate and do not represent GPS-level location. Raw IP addresses are not stored in Strange Metrics analytics tables.

Competition and giveaway information

When a person enters a competition or giveaway administered through Strange Metrics, the service may process the entrant's name, email address, optional phone number, optional social handle, entry source, campaign and UTM attribution, referrer, entry time, eligibility review status, prize-contact or claim status, and administrative notes needed to operate the promotion.

Marketing consent for competition entrants is collected separately from the entry itself and is optional. Competition entry information is maintained separately from normal Strange Metrics customer analytics accounts.

Forms and sensitive content

Automatic interaction tracking is designed to record that an interaction occurred without collecting the contents typed into ordinary form fields. Customers should not intentionally send passwords, payment-card data, government identifiers, health records, or other sensitive personal information through custom event properties.

How information is used

Information is used to provide analytics and attribution, operate accounts, administer competitions where applicable, secure the service, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, provide support, improve product reliability, and communicate about the service where permitted.

Service providers

Strange Metrics relies on infrastructure and service providers that may process information on its behalf, including Supabase for database and authentication services, Vercel for application hosting and request infrastructure, Resend for supported transactional email delivery, and Cloudflare Turnstile when enabled for abuse-prevention verification on public forms.

Customer responsibilities

Website owners using Strange Metrics are responsible for determining what notices, consent mechanisms, contractual terms, or other disclosures are required for their own visitors and jurisdiction. This is particularly important when a customer enables precise device location. Strange Metrics does not replace a customer's own privacy obligations.

Retention and deletion

Information is retained as needed to provide and secure the service, administer active promotions, satisfy operational requirements, address abuse or support issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Eligible single-member accounts can permanently delete their account and owned Strange Metrics data from Account Settings. Accounts that participate in a shared organization require an ownership and access review before deletion so shared business data is not orphaned. Your rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or other treatment of personal information. Requests are reviewed based on the law that applies to the request and the role Strange Metrics has in processing the information.
